June 19th, 2023 | News

FST Technical Services (FST), a professional services firm specializing in commissioning, life sciences and technical services, has been named the Commissioning Agent for the New Jersey Transit (NJT) Distributed Generation Program. The NJT chose FST based on qualifications, knowledge of New Jersey and their ability to demand a higher standard of all parties involved in the project of such paramount significance.

“We are immensely grateful to have been selected as the commissioning agent for the New Jersey Transit (NJT) Distributed Generation Program. It is with great enthusiasm that we bring FST’s extensive experience and expertise to this innovative project, which holds tremendous significance for the entire New Jersey community. We are genuinely excited about the opportunity to contribute to this milestone initiative and are committed to making a lasting impact for years to come,” according to Michael English, Commissioning Division President.

After the devastation Superstorm Sandy caused a major disruption to critical infrastructure, including passenger rail and other commuter systems, throughout New York and New Jersey, NJT established the NJ TRANSITGRID project. With a budget of $570 million, this project aims to provide backup power for bus, ferry, and limited passenger-rail service during natural or man-made disasters. NJ TRANSIT’s comprehensive Resilience Program aligns with our mission to make our transit systems and infrastructure stronger and more reliable for the people we serve every day. The scope of the commissioning will include services through the design phase, construction phase, post acceptance phase and the warranty period with actual verification of performance ensuring the highest standard of service. Since FST was engaged early in the design phase for these design-build projects, FST will be thoroughly involved with the development and refinement of the final design for these six (6) critical NJT facilities.
